Forever Family

Five of his and four of hers were
step-this-and-that to each other.

The Church said, “Families Are
‘Forever'”—in their case it was more

of a question, after the disaffections,
the divorces, and the deaths of

two of the five grandkids—but heck,
when her twenty-six-year-old
freeloader finally moved out, and
before their lone missionary

returned, they had a few days to
fall in love—or at least fall

back on a friendship that for ten
years had kept things from flying

completely apart; and if the results
weren’t likely to last forever,

that was a chance they’d have to take—
because if they didn’t, who would?
