Joan Shaw

JOAN SHAW, originally from New Jersey and points east, has lived on a farm in Lewiston, Utah, for the past twenty-three years. She began writing while an undergraduate and sold her first story in 1970 to Mademoiselle. Her book of short stories, The Uncle (Tiburon￾Belvedere, California: Cadmus Editions: 1983), received first prize and publication prize from the Utah Arts Council's literary competitions of 1980 and 1981. She and her husband, Alan, are the parents of six children and grandparents of eight.
