Kyra N. Krakos
KYRA KRAKOS {[email protected]} is an associate professor of biology and coordinator for the sustainability program at Maryville University, and a research associate at Missouri Botanical Garden. Kyra did her PhD at Washington University in St. Louis. She is a biodiversity fellow with the Living Earth Collaborative. Her lab focuses on the need to understand the dynamics of the natural world in a changing environment. She was Science Educator of the Year by the STL Academy of Science in 2016. She gave a TEDx Talk in 2015 called “Plants, People and Pollinators: A Love Story,” available to watch online. Kyra lives with her husband and three children in a home that is “very, very nerdy.”

Elder Oaks clarified that priesthood is the authority and power of God. By extension, that must also be the authority and power of our Heavenly Mother. I decided to give it a name. Not the Order of Aaron, that great Old Testament wingman to Moses, or the Order of Melchizedek, mentor and life coach to Abraham, but the Order of Eve, a matriarchal priesthood, in honor of the mother of all living.
