DPN Featured Episode: Family Proclamations: Out of the Hasidic Closet (with Sara Glass)

July 19, 2024

In this special episode of the Dialogue Journal Podcast, we shine a spotlight on Family Proclamations, a thought-provoking show in the Dialogue Podcast Network hosted by award-winning journalist Blair Hodges. Family Proclamations explores the history and evolution of relationships, gender, and sexuality, featuring conversations with best-selling authors on a wide range of topics, from dating and marriage to gender identity and human biology.

Join us as Blair sits down with Sara Glass, an ultra-Orthodox Jew who was raised with a clear purpose: to marry a righteous man and bear children in service to God. Outwardly, Sara seemed to follow this plan perfectly, but internally, she faced a tumultuous journey that pulled her in a very different direction. In her memoir, “Kissing Girls on Shabbat,”Sara recounts the traumatic and risky path she took to find healing and authenticity.

This episode includes discussions of miscarriage and sexual violence. Listener discretion is advised. If you or someone you know is experiencing intimate partner abuse, help is available.
