Embracing Imperfections: A Conversation with Laura Erekson & Sarah Winegar

In this episode of the Dialogue Out Loud podcast, Dialogue Journal art editor Margaret Olsen Hemming interviews artists Laura Erekson and Sarah Winegar, whose work is featured in the Summer 2024 issue of Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought. Both artists share their perspectives on the role of imperfections in creating art and how their experiences as mothers have influenced their artistic expressions.

Laura Erekson, born in Oakland, California, and currently residing in Salt Lake City, draws on her background in printmaking and sculpture to create textured paintings using found objects and plants. With a BFA from Brigham Young University and a MAT from George Mason University, her work has been exhibited nationwide, including at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. Sarah Winegar, also from Salt Lake City, balances her artistic pursuits with her responsibilities as a wife and mother of three.
